Ankipedia is a project by Joost Puite. I read Gabriel Wyners book on language learning ‘Fluent forever’ and decided to use his insights into fast language learning. I created Dutch courses for refugees from Syria and Eritrea. In their own language. For free. Later I also added decks for English and Turkish speakers.
To check if Wyner actually knows what he is talking about I used his Anki pronounciation trainer to learn how to read Arabic, and learnt 600 frequently used Arabic words. Though I can’t say this was easy, it would have been nearly impossible without Anki, or at least ten times as time consuming.
Not speaking a language causes many problems. From just plain loneliness to not being able to find a job. Ankipedia aims to make it easier to learn Dutch with spaced repetition decks for memorisation app Anki.
